Can polyaluminum chloride be usedn in swimming pool?

Of course, in fact, polyaluminum chloride (PAC) is the most common chemical used in pool water treatment, mainly to remove suspended solids, algae and other tiny particles from the water and help keep the water clear.

The mechanism of PAC is to neutralize the charges on the surface of these particles, so that the particles that originally repel each other because they have the same charge and remain suspended can come together to form larger flocculents, which will settle to the bottom of the pool due to gravity. The sediment can then be removed through the pool's bottom drainage system or by using a special suction device.

General steps for applying PAC include:

1. First make sure that the pH of the pool water is in the appropriate range, usually between 7.2 and 7.8.

2. Calculate the required dosage according to the size and water quality of the pool.

3. Sprinkle the PAC evenly into the pool, preferably at night or when the pool is not in use, so that the PAC process can be fully carried out.

4. Wait a period of time, usually a few hours to overnight, for the PAC to take effect and for the particles to settle.

5. Use suction equipment to clean up impurities settling on the bottom of the pool.

The frequency of PAC use depends on the use of the pool and water quality conditions, in general, you may need to use once or twice a week. However, excessive use of flocculants may lead to water quality problems, so they should be used in moderation according to the instructions in the product manual and professional advice.

It is worth noting that the use of PAC is usually an auxiliary treatment when the pool's circulating filtration system cannot effectively remove all impurities, and daily maintenance should also rely on effective circulating filtration and disinfection measures to keep the water clean.
